BIO
Sara Greenberger Rafferty makes image-based works in paper, plastic, glass, metal, fabric, and video. Her work is driven by an ongoing examination of contemporary and mid-20th century visual culture and considers the ever-changing implications for photographic images in the digital era. She’s also into comedy.

Based in Brooklyn since 2000, Rafferty comes to Hunter from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where she was professor and director of graduate studies in Photography. Before that, she was a faculty member at Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., and Suffolk County Community College (SUNY).

PUBLICATIONS AND PROJECTS
A comprehensive experimental monograph on her work, Studio Visit, was published by Inventory Press in 2022.
She is a Writing Space’s Writer-in-Residence in Fall 2024.
